Prepress

We can take over a project  when the customer’s agency hands over the job to Schur Flexible Poland – by an electronic medium or via FTP server.
We will then check the printability of the job, adapt it to the intended packaging solution and to the printing press on which the specific job will be printed.
Data can be delivered on the following media types:
  • CD or DVD
  • Files can be transferred via FTP server
Requirements for the data:
Applications

The art work should be made using one of the vector applications listed below:
·         CorelDraw up to version 12 incl. (suggested version 9) – PC platform
·         Adobe Illustrator CS incl. (suggested version 8) – PC or Macintosh platform
·         FreeHand MX up to version 11 incl. (suggested version 8) – Macintosh platform
·         FreeHand up to version 10 incl. (suggested version 8) – PC platform

The art work should be saved in two versions:
·         with fonts that must be attached to the work (if everything is sent via ftp, fonts should be compressed using either Zip or Stuffit applications)
·         with texts converted into curves.

If your vector application makes it possible to work with layers, we would prefer that:
·                                         graphics be saved on a separate layer,
·                                         white ground print on a separate layer (if applicable),
·                                         grid – layout on a separate layer,
·                                         information table also on a separate layer.

Images and bitmaps
If you use images and bitmaps and the application you use has an option of linking them, we would appreciate it if you could do the following:
·                                       do not embed them in the vector file,
·                                       after using them, do not change their names, e.g. while burning the CD, do not abbreviate names to 16 characters.

If images and bitmaps are permanently embedded in your work, you should:
·   attach them separately, so that there is no need to export them from the vector application for further processing.
Image resolution should be 300 dpi in the 1:1 scale.
If the image is to be enlarged, the resolution should be increased by a percentage corresponding to the percentage of image enlargement.

For bitmap processing, we have a possibility to work with the applications listed below:
·                              Photoshop CS version CS for PC and Macintosh
·                              InDesign CS for PC and Mac,
·                              QuarkXPress 6.5 for Mac
·                              ArtPro 8.0 rev 7
·                              PackEdge 3.0 and ColorTone 2.0 by ESKO, formerly BARCO

We would also like to ask you the following:
·                           even though the company has at its disposal InDesign CS for PC and MAC and QuarkXPress 6.5 for Mac, please do not prepare your works using these applications.
·                           do not send anything in the PDF format.
·                           no typesetting in PhotoShop or other applications designed for bitmap processing.

Please enclose a preview in the form of a good-quality JPG or PDF file from the version accepted by the client and containing all elements of the pattern.

Line and transitions
In patterns prepared for flex print, use frames (lines, objects) with a minimum thickness of 0.12 mm and 0.25 mm in contrast to one colour. If the selection is in more colours than one, the thickness should be even greater. Font size depends on font type.
Avoid tone transitions to 0% (the minimum is 4%) and mix CMYK and PANTONE palettes.

Bar codes
A bar code should:
·         have the minimum size of SC2,
·         be single-coloured in 100% and with no grid,
·         the distance of the last bar of the bar code and another printing element must be minimum 2.31 mm (recommended setting – 2.54 mm),
·         should be aligned along the print line.
Ideally, the code should be black, blue, green or dark brown against a white background.
