Environmental issue

Reduced warehousing and handling costs, minimized packaging waste and consequently lower disposal costs are arguments that appeal to everyone. And for certain product segments all advantages may be achieved by replacing tins, glasses and tubes by bags.

Holding on to a market position takes constant monitoring of and adaptation to market demands. Not only must product quality be superior, the company must persist in competitiveness in all respects. Therefore, some products segments tend to move towards flexible packaging for their products.

But also today’s consumer is aware of the environmental issue. The consumer is conscious and looks for solutions that help reduce disposals, in due consideration of the environment.

Examples of semi-liquid products successfully launched in flexible packaging solutions are olives, pickled cucumbers, mayonaise and jam. These semi-liquid products are packed on the Schur®Star Bagging System.
