Schur continues to grow
Schur International a/s acquires the Swedish carton and plastic bag producer Ekmans Jönköping AB from Triplast Industrier AB. The acquisition took place as of 1 October 2016. Ekmans Jönköping AB has a turnover of approx. SEK 250m.
Ekmans is a well established, family-owned packaging company which is renowned for delivering high quality and service to a stable customer portfolio within food, industry and retail. We look forward to continuing the co-operation with these customers and to proving that we can deliver the same high quality and service, Hans Schur says.
In view of the increasingly rapid structural change taking place in the industry, this is an important step for Schur. By this acquisition, we underline our position as the leading carton manufacturer in Scandinavia. Besides, we extend our product portfolio and get the opportunity to enter into a closer co-operation with retail customers where we envisage a significant potential for further growth.
Schur achieves a turnover equivalent to approx. SEK 800m in the Scandinavian market within carton packaging and retail bags and after the acquisition of Ekmans, Schur operates three production sites, Horsens, Kumla and Jönköping.
For Trioplast Industrier, the divestment is part of the strategy that the company shall only be engaged in the production of and service solutions within polyethylene film. Trioplast, which has a turnover of more than SEK 4bn, has during the past 3 years invested SEK 500m in innovative technology. The divestment of Ekmans enhances further investments and a stronger market leader position for Trioplast within products and service solution in its line of business.
